NITA UMALI BERTHELSEN

The Philippines Quarterly inaugural volume was released in July 1951. It was an intellectual, state-sponsored cultural and political journal published by the Philippine Information Council under the Office of the President. It was designed to showcase high-level Filipino intellect, literature, governance, art, and socio-economic positions. The writing style was sophisticated and intended for a highly literate, discerning audience. Its editorial office was located in the former War Damage Compound on Arcoeros Street Intramuros.
Very few copies remain, if at all. Fortunately, I have the complete set of Vol 1 as Nita Umali Berthelsen was involved in its production.
They are downloable here.

In 1969, the Philippines Quarterly was revived by the National Media Production Center. From 1969 to 1973, Nita Umali Berthelsen and
Mary Ruff Tagle were the editors. When Nita left Manila for Copenhagen in 1973, Mary remained editor for several years until its closure.
Here are copies from 1969 - 1973, when Nita was one of the editors. Here are the first three, more will be added. Download here.
