1947 - 1949
Nita attended the State University of Iowa from 1947 to 1949.
She arrived in the United States on 15 May 1947.
She was hosted by Mr and Mrs Sporleder in California. At the time,
Mr Sporleder was with Blue Bar in the Philippines.
Her initial plan, it seems, was to apply at Stanford, but instead decided to head to New York and explore her options.
Eventually, she was convinced by
an erstwhile suitor to enroll at the State University of Iowa.

Nita conpleted her Master of Arts and graduated on
5 February 1949
She returned to Manila in June of 1949, on board the SS President Cleveland and proceeded to teach Creative Writing at the University of Santo Tomas.
